More details on the backstage reaction to Toni Storm’s WWE departure have now emerged.
Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, confirmed previous Fightful and PWInsider reports that Storm ‘just up and quit’ after working a recent house show, paying to fly herself home, with a WWE source telling Haynes:
“She straight up flew herself home after working the triple threat last night and quit. Took everyone by surprise.”
Fightful previously reported that WWE was ‘blindsided’ by the news of Storm requesting her release, with one source noting that it would have been difficult for WWE to justify not granting someone their release after several rounds of ‘budget cuts’.
Haynes now reports that Storm’s departure additionally came as a shock to those within the WWE locker-room, with an unnamed female main roster performer telling him:
“It’s f**king wild. She’s just gone. Didn’t really tell anyone.”
