AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has now said the promotion has not made an offer to current NXT star Adam Cole.
Cole’s contract expired in July but he signed an extension to stay with NXT after TakeOver 36 so he can finish his program with Kyle O’Reilly.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW had made an offer to Cole, but Khan has now said on Busted Open that that’s not the case.
WWE hadn’t realised that Cole’s contract was expiring so soon and it appears Canyon Ceman – former Senior Director of Talent Development – was fired over that.
It has emerged that Pete Dunne’s contract is also expiring soon, also likely after SummerSlam weekend, and his situation was “similar to that of Adam Cole’s”.
Tony Khan was already a very busy boy, but he now has even more stuff on his plate as he recently said he’ll be editing future episodes of AEW Elevation and Dark after the Max Caster controversy.
