Tony Khan Planning AEW ‘Roster Split’ Soon? AEW

It sounds like there’s a possibility that a ‘roster split’ could be coming soon to Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

As talk of CM Punk potentially returning continues to heat up, there are obviously a lot of moving parts and a lot of things that need to be addressed.

Fightful Select reported that Punk’s return is “tentatively planned”, which you can read more about at this link, but there was a specific point to make note of that wouldn’t just affect Punk, but potentially a lot of other people on the roster.

There have plenty of rumors lately that there’ll be a new Saturday AEW show debuting soon, which at the minute looks likely to be called AEW Collision, because the company filed for that trademark recently.

According to Fightful, there’s starting to be a lot more talk within Warner Bros Discovery about the new show being “designed” to facilitate a “soft roster split”.

The idea would obviously be to keep people who have issues with each other on separate rosters so they can stay away from each other, which isn’t just Punk, but there are plenty of others on the roster who have their issues with each other as well.

Fightful added that talent haven’t yet been informed of a roster split being planned, but have heard discussions about the fact there’ll be a new show.

There’s still not been anything officially confirmed about the new show so we’ll keep you updated, and of course we’ll keep you posted with anything new on Punk’s return as well.

The report did mention that “the working plan” has been for Punk to make his return to AEW at or around the June 21 episode of Dynamite which is at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

There was also said to be talk about it not being a surprise but actually announced in advance, potentially at the Warner Upfronts on May 17.

Punk also reportedly had a meeting planned with Chris Jericho, which you can read more about at this link.
