Tony Khan Confirms AEW Star Is Thinking About Retirement AEW

AEW President Tony Khan has addressed Sting’s wrestling future, following The Icon teasing his retirement.

In a previous article by D Magazine, it was indicated that Sting will hang up his boots when his current AEW deal expires.

Sting’s AEW contract is expected to be up sometime this year.

Speaking on The Kliq podcast, Tony Khan noted that he is of the belief that Sting is starting to think about retirement.

Praising the wrestling veteran, Khan said:

“I talk to Sting a lot. He is somebody who has been such a huge boost to AEW since he arrived. Sting debuted a little over two years ago at the first Winter is Coming event in AEW.

“I catch up with him pretty frequently on a regular basis. I have to say, Sting’s motivation for pro wrestling is as high as it’s ever been. He loves what he’s doing.

“I do think he’s starting to think about what retirement will look like, but he’s also not slowing down at all in the present.

“So, I’m not ready to say exactly when Sting is going to hang it up, but I do know every time we get to see Sting go out there in AEW, it’s very special.”

Khan last wrestled at the November 19 AEW Full Gear pay-per-view, teaming with Darby Allin to defeat Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett.

Sting and Allin will team with the Great Muta on Sunday (January 22) in the character’s final match ahead of Keiji Muto’s retirement.
