Tony Khan has provided an update on plans for an AEW event in the UK, and the possibility of the event taking place in 2022.
Khan previously stated that he wants to bring AEW to Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage. Speaking with Kenny McIntosh for Inside The Ropes, Khan noted that he is hopeful that an AEW UK show can happen this year.
Wanting Craven Cottage to become a UK home for AEW, Khan said:
“I’m going to do my best to make sure that we get there soon—hopefully in 2022. I can’t promise it yet, but it has been a goal of mine to bring AEW to Craven Cottage. I hope that this is the year. They are two of my favourite things, Craven Cottage and AEW. I think they would go together smashingly. I think they would be a perfect combo. Whenever we do come to the UK, I look forward to bringing AEW to the Cottage.”
Somebody who (probably) won’t be in action at a potential AEW UK show will be Cody Rhodes, who has now officially left AEW. A WWE source reportedly ‘fully anticipates‘ Rhodes and WWE coming to terms on an agreement.
More details have now emerged on a contract dispute between Cody and AEW ahead of his departure.
