Get ready for round two, everyone. It looks like we will be set to see a rematch between AEW World Champion ‘Hangman’ Adam Page and Bryan Danielson.
The first time ever encounter between the two went to a 60 minute time limit draw on this past Wednesday’s (December 15) special Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite.
AEW President Tony Khan appeared on Busted Open Radio today, where he explained the situation coming out of Winter is Coming, and that Danielson is very much still the number one contender.
Khan said:
“I’m excited for what’s coming next for Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson. It’s far from over. Bryan Danielson is still the number one contender. This is far from over. Bryan Danielson and Hangman Page is a rematch I’ve very excited to see,”
There are a plethora of potential options for the rematch to take place at. AEW is holding special Holiday Bash and New Year’s Smash editions of Dynamite on December 22 and 29 respectively. Then there is AEW’s first show on TBS on January 5, and the Battle of the Belts TNT special on January 8.
The match from this week’s show received a five star rating from Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer.
