AEW star Wardlow has been locked in a feud with his former boss MJF ever since AEW Revolution, where he helped CM Punk defeat MJF in a Dog Collar match.
Wardlow has been demanding his release from his contract with MJF ever since, with MJF only allowing him to leave if he beats him at AEW Double or Nothing.
AEW president Tony Khan spoke to Brandon Walker of Barstool Rasslin’, where he was asked why he doesn’t just buy Wardlow out of his contract with MJF.
He said:
“MJF and his family have a lot of money and to be fair, I’m making smart business decisions for the company and we have Wardlow, he’s still performing on the company right now and it’s on MJF’s dime. We work with a lot of people through the Forbidden Door and this is no different. It’s a lot of partnerships,”
Wardlow will be able to earn his release from his contract with MJF should he meet the conditions that MJF laid out on last night’s Dynamite in Long Island.
