AEW President and ROH owner Tony Khan has reacted to Jonathan Gresham signing with IMPACT, wishing the former ROH World Champion all the best.
Gresham notably became the Undisputed ROH World Champion at Supercard of Honor in April, the first ROH pay-per-view following Tony Khan’s acquisition of the promotion.
The pure wrestler last competed on a Tony Khan show at Death Before Dishonor in July, where he dropped his world title to Claudio Castagnoli in the opening bout of the show.
It was reported that Gresham requested his AEW/ROH release following a heated meeting that took place before the Death Before Dishonor show.
Gresham recently confirmed that he has signed a deal with IMPACT Wrestling, following his previous appearances for the promotion.
In an interview on Grapsody, Khan spoke positively about Gresham, noting:
“I think Jonathan Gresham signed with IMPACT recently. I can’t speak to that, but I believe that was the news. I would be remiss if I didn’t say that I like Jonathan Gresham and I like IMPACT, I think that’s great.
“It’s good for him to have a great opportunity there and it’s good for them, they have a great wrestler there.
“It’s great when wrestlers get opportunities and Jonathan Gresham is somebody who I had a good amount of experience with, I like Jonathan Gresham, he’s very talented and that’s a great place for him to go and hopefully have a really successful run as a wrestler.”
Claudio Castagnoli recently reclaimed his ROH World Title, defeating Chris Jericho for the gold at ROH Final Battle on December 10. Jericho had previously won the gold at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam in September.
