Tony Khan Started Dreaming About Keith Lee AEW Debut After WWE Release

Tony Khan has noted that he began to picture Keith Lee in AEW as soon as he heard Lee had been released by WWE.

Lee was one of many stars let go by WWE in November. Following that wave of releases, Khan admitted that there were a couple of soon-to-be free agents he had his eye on.

The former NXT Champion made his AEW debut on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, pinning Isiah Kassidy to earn his spot in the Face of the Revolution ladder match.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Khan confirmed that he has thought about Lee’s AEW arrival since November.

Discussing the crazy timing of Lee’s signing, Khan said:

“Keith’s debut was incredible. Much to my amazement, Keith got released. As soon as I saw that he was released, this was the moment I dreamed about.

“Only days removed from his wedding and honeymoon, Lee looked spectacular on Dynamite, making it even more unbelievable that WWE released such a versatile, talented star.

“It was crazy timing. I’m so happy with how the debut has been received. It’s very well deserved, and I am very excited to have Keith in AEW.”

Also on Wednesday’s show, Jay White walked through the forbidden door, helping Adam Cole beat down Roppongi Vice. Both Khan and NJPW have indicated that White will appear on AEW TV for at least the next few weeks.
