# Tony Khan Confirms Major Change To AEW Casino Gauntlet World Title Contract Cash-Ins

Tony Khan has confirmed a major change to the rules for AEW Casino Gauntlet World Title contract cash-ins, following today’s Forbidden Door 2025 event.

First introduced at AEW All In London 2024, the Casino Gauntlet match has often been compared to WWE’s long-running Money in the Bank Ladder Match stipulation, with several stars competing for a guaranteed world title opportunity that can be utilised at any time they desire within one year.

While Athena gave Toni Storm advance notice before executing her opportunity at today’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view, the opportunity was previously allowed to be used during or after matches – as seen with Christian Cage’s failed usage of the opportunity at AEW Revolution 2025.

Speaking at the [AEW Forbidden Door post show media scrum](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBmAyuYByd0), Tony Khan announced that Casino Gauntlet winners will no longer be able to execute their contracts whenever they want, instead having to give at least one week’s notice to the champion ahead of time.

Khan said that he doesn’t want to utilise a stipulation that is being used in “other places” with the change also being made to allow for proper promotion for the title matches ahead of time and to protect the integrity of the championships themselves:

*“I think that I want AEW to be different and I’ve been listening to the feedback and the voice of the fans and I think people want the championships in the sport of pro wrestling to have integrity.*

*“We’re having the best year in the history of AEW and I think a lot of it is that we’re willing to listen to the fans, that we care about the sport and we want the fans to believe in what we’re doing…*

*“I also think it’s very, very important to promote championship matches. I don’t want to have a big ticket championship match that we’re unable to advertise, and also I don’t really want to necessarily utilise a stipulation here that is being utilised in other places. I’m not trying to duplicate what other people are doing, I really believe we are our own promotion.*

*“So that’s why going forward I want to set the tone that from now on I think the right thing to do is all contract executions should be on at least a week’s notice so we can properly promote the matches, so we can properly give the fans notice and have the integrity of a championship match.*

*“I think it’s for the best for us, I think it’s for the best for our media partners and for the integrity of the championship.”*

Despite losing his AEW World Title match to Hangman Adam Page at Forbidden Door, MJF still carries his guaranteed AEW World Title shot contract that he earned at All In Texas last month, but will now have to announce his plans to execute the contract ahead of time in accordance to Khan’s new rule.

MJF has yet to publicly comment on this change, but we will provide further updates if he does so.
