AEW president Tony Khan announced on Twitter last night that a highly anticipated dream match is set for next week’s AEW Dynamite show.

The match will see Kenny Omega take on AAA star El Hijo Del Vikingo in a match that was originally slated for 2021.

There have been rumours of friction between the relationship between AEW and AAA over the past few months, stemming from Dragon Lee dethroning AEW’s FTR for the AAA Tag Team Championship in December, before taking to the microphone and announcing he had signed with WWE.

Vikingo isn’t the only wrestler set to hop between the promotions, as Christopher Daniels is set to appear in tomorrow night’s AAA Lucha Libre World Cup, seemingly showing that the relationship between the companies has been rebuilt.

Speaking exclusively to Wrestling Inc, Daniels, who serves as the head of talent relations for AEW, revealed that he believes the relationship is in a good position right now, revealing that Tony Khan and Konnan recently had a meeting to amend the relationship between the two parties.

He said:

“Actually, I feel like it’s in a good position right now. Konnan and Tony Khan recently had a meeting and tried to suss all that out, and I feel like we’re in a good position. We’re in a good place right now, obviously, because I’m going to AAA to wrestle. So yeah, I feel like whatever miscommunications or misunderstandings, whatever that was, I feel like that’s in the past and we’re going to move forward and not dwell on that and try and be available. Each promotion is trying to be available for the other as its schedule permits.”

Tony Khan recently took to Twitter to respond to criticisms of his ‘dream match’ announcement for Omega vs Vikingo.
