Tony Khan Names AEW MVP Of 2022 AEW

AEW President Tony Khan has praised Jon Moxley for being the company’s MVP of 2022, following an eventful year.

Moxley stepped up when many couldn’t in 2022.

Speaking on the In The Kliq podcast, Tony Khan discussed Moxley’s run last year, noting:

“Well, 2022, Jon Moxley was certainly an MVP for AEW in so many ways. He was a great World Champion throughout the year.

“Also, really came back at the beginning of the year, after he took some time off to get his personal life in order and get his health in order.

“He has come back better than ever, looking better than ever. His motivation is through the roof, and week in, week out, Jon Moxley’s having the best matches and he is consistently, to me, doing the best work of his entire career.

“No matter what was happening in the company week in and week out in 2022, you could count on Jon Moxley to really be a leader in AEW and be one of the top stars.”

When CM Punk picked up a foot injury and was forced to relinquish the AEW World Title, Moxley won the interim AEW World Championship in June at the AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door event.

Moxley surprisingly squashed Punk in their undisputed title bout, before dropping the gold to Punk at All Out in September.

After the world title was vacated following the post-All Out backstage altercation, Moxley won a tournament to become the new AEW World Champion, defeating Bryan Danielson in the finals at Dynamite: Grand Slam.

Moxley dropped the gold to MJF at the November 19 Full Gear pay-per-view, following an assist from William Regal.

The popular star last wrestled on the January 11 edition of Dynamite, losing to Hangman Page in singles action.
