Tony Khan Discusses AEW Being ‘Cold’ & Attendance Figures AEW

Tony Khan has discussed AEW being “cold” and their attendance numbers.

The recent woes for AEW attendance figures has been a hot topic in wrestling circles. The attendance numbers have dropped in the second half of 2023 with numbers from prior visits to certain arenas.

WrestleTix reported that All Elite Wrestling is drawing between 2,000 and 3,000 fans for live events and are rarely selling out right now. This led to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer recently stating that the promotion is cold right now.

In an interview with The Dan LeBatard Show, Tony Khan was asked about AEW being “cold” and how the company can change their perception moving forward. He answered:

“We’ve really begun to change it. The perception is very strong for AEW worldwide.”

“44 days ago, we set the all-time record for ticket sales for any wrestling show ever in the history of the planet.”

“We’re having a very good year, our pay-per-view numbers are through the roof, and we’re going to have a great show tonight on TBS.”

“The fans are behind what we’re doing, people are mobilized behind this lineup,”

“I’ve seen more positive momentum and positive feedback about AEW in the last 24 hours than I have in several weeks and that’s saying a lot because we’ve had a lot of huge shows in the last several weeks.”

AEW Dynamite will air on a special night on Tuesday, October 10 this week due to coverage of the MLB Playoffs. The show will go head-to-head with WWE NXT.
