AEW President and CEO Tony Khan is said to be working on “something cool” regarding the upcoming women’s #1 contender tournament.
There have been questions as to how AEW is going to air the half of the tournament that is emanating from Japan, and while Dave Meltzer didn’t have an exact answer, he did provide a little bit of insight into what Khan has in mind.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said:
“I don’t know how it’s going to air here. The only thing I know is Tony Khan said he’s working on something cool. That’s what he told me. He’s working on something cool.”

Meltzer also provided a bit of news on AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida travelling to Japan for the tournament, and an update on scheduling.
He said:
“Hikaru Shida is in Japan right now producing – the Japanese side is gonna be filmed, it may have already been filmed, at the Ice Ribbon dojo, and it’s a closed set so nobody knows what’s happening and stuff. But she’s over there, that’s why she hasn’t been on TV in several weeks because she had to quarantine for two weeks, now she’s there, so I’m guessing they’re doing it now
