Tony Khan had high praise following All Elite Wrestling’s Full Gear pay per view. In particular, he praised FTR and the Young Bucks calling them brilliant storytellers.
The two teams squared off at Full Gear with the Young Bucks capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Their match has drawn significant praise as one of the best tag team matches of all time. Here is Khan’s quote from the Full Gear media scrum, courtesy of Fightful:
“Matt and Nick Jackson and FTR are four brilliant storytellers, and I thought that was one of the best tag team matches you’re ever going to see, and I’m so proud that we had that on Full Gear and they had that match in front of a great crowd here in Jacksonville. It was all the tag teams — It was like a love letter to tag team wrestling. All the tag team finishes that they hit. All the storytelling of the selling of Matt’s injury. Nick’s great hot tag, the way that the crowd was just red hot, and then FTR just the absolute best heel tag team in the world.
It was just so fun, the dichotomy of these teams and it is the dream match. It’s been built up so long and it was so emotional. Again, I’m so glad that it happened in front of the biggest crowd we’ve had since the pandemic started, close to a thousand people, not including all the, you know, staff and extras and stuff.”
The Young Bucks had added the stipulation that if they lost they would never challenge for the titles again. After a year of build, they finally have won their titles.
