Tony Khan has reacted to AEW x NJPW’s upcoming event, ‘Forbidden Door’ selling out within minutes of tickets being available during a pre-sale this morning.
If you were hoping to get a ticket to the inaugural crossover between All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling, Forbidden Door next month in Chicago, hopefully, you were up early this morning!
Taking to his Twitter, Khan thanked wrestling fans for their turnout for this morning’s pre-sale, writing:
“Thank you amazing wrestling fans who purchased tickets to @AEW x @njpwworld #ForbiddenDoor ppv! We sold over 11,000 tickets today, with a small allotment still held back for the general sale tomorrow! #AEWRampage is on TNT early tomorrow @ 5:30pm ET/4:30pm CT/3:30pm MT/2:30pm PT!”
According to a report from Dave Meltzer, the “small allotment” of tickets going on sale tomorrow is more than 2000 but they are expected to sell out “instantly.”
Tickets to the event have already reached re-sellers pages with resale site StubHub already having options ranging from upper bowl seats being resold at $78 dollars to ringside seats in excess of $1800 to land in the second row.
Forbidden Door is the first promotional crossover between AEW and NJPW that according to reports, has been in the works before the pandemic, with AEW’s Tony Khan even cutting a promo on WWE’s Nick Khan back in 2021, mocking his claims that WWE would be partnering with NJPW.
