Tony Khan Responds To Cody Rhodes Feeling ‘Disrespected’ In AEW

AEW President Tony Khan has responded to comments Cody Rhodes about feeling ‘disrespected’ during his time in the company.

Cody Rhodes was one of the founders of All Elite Wrestling upon it’s launch in 2019, with him serving as an EVP for his three years in the company prior to his departure in 2022.

Over the Summer, Cody appeared on the Bill Simmons podcast, where he discussed his departure from AEW, saying:

“There’s clearly bad blood, but there’s also clearly respect and love. In the end, the way I kind of see it is… If I felt disrespected ever at WWE, that’s one thing. That’s a company that was built, that’s the Yankees, that’s the flagship of it all.

“If I ever felt there that I was a number on a sheet, maybe, but feeling disrespected at something I built with my friends, that we built, feeling disrespected there, I wouldn’t stand for it.

AEW President Tony Khan spoke about Cody’s comments during his interview with Q101’s Case Lowe, to which he said:

“I’m not sure I agree with that, but I also would give him the benefit of the doubt that, I’ve heard him say a lot of positive things too, and for somebody that doesn’t work here and is involved in the competitive promotion, he’s usually pretty gracious with the things he says.

“I’ve seen him since he’s been gone, and it’s always been very positive and good, and I have only good things to say about him and his contributions here.

“Everyone’s entitled to their opinions, I appreciate you asking me, but it’s the holidays, it was Christmas last week, I wish everybody the best, I’m very happy with AEW.”
