AEW President Tony Khan has discussed his favorite WWE match of all time, noting how often he re-watches the popular bout.
It’s easy to forget that Tony Khan was a big wrestling fan, long before the birth of AEW. Khan has now revealed the 2 matches that he loves the most.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Khan argued that Kenny Omega and Hangman Page vs The Young Bucks from Revolution 2020 was one of the best matches he’d ever seen.
Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat from WrestleMania 3 was revealed to be Khan’s favorite singles encounter. The AEW president stated that he makes sure to re-watch the classic bout at least once a year.
Here are the full quotes:
“Okay, there’s two matches I go back and watch every year. One is very recent; they’re completely different. One of them is Kenny Omega and Hangman Page vs. The Young Bucks, which to me is as good a tag match as I’ve seen.
“The other is (Randy) Savage vs. (Ricky) Steamboat. I go back and watch it every year. They’re completely different; one has all the bells and whistles, one has less bells and whistles. They’re both perfect, one is my favorite tag team match, the other is my favorite singles match. So yeah; Hangman and Kenny vs. the Young Bucks and Savage and Steamboat.”
Khan recently appeared at IMPACT Rebellion, the event where Kenny Omega defeated Rich Swann for the IMPACT World Title.
With Turner’s recent NHL deal, it was speculated that AEW will have to move off of Wednesday nights soon, so the two properties aren’t in direct competition. Khan has recently addressed these claims.
Also in AEW news, Jon Moxley has been announced for next week’s episode of NJPW Strong. You can read about Moxley’s scheduled match here.
