Tony Khan Says Def Jam Founder Rick Rubin Is A Fan Of AEW & Christian Cage Billboard

AEW President Tony Khan says a major hip hop name is a fan of his company and Christian Cage.

Khan has many well known famous names as friends, which includes Rick Rubin.

Rubin is the founder of Def Jam records who has helped launch the careers of many of hip hop’s biggest names, such as LL Cool J and Run DMC. Rick Rubin is also a major fan of professional wrestling and was a former financial backer of Jim Cornette’s Smokey Mountain Wrestling.

Speaking on the ROH Death Before Dishonor pre-show media briefing, Tony Khan proclaimed that he believes Rick Rubin will like the new direction for Ring of Honor and is a huge fan of All Elite Wrestling.

Khan said:

“There are some wrestling purists who I have told that they’re really going to enjoy the Ring of Honor shows. Great example, my friend Rick Rubin, who is just an awesome awesome guy and I hate to name drop him, and I rarely do. But I really like him a lot. He loves pro wrestling so much, and he’s one of the smartest people I know, and just a really, really, really cool, really good person. You know, I think this is a wrestling show Rick Rubin is really going to enjoy. Just an example of someone I know, he watches all the AEW shows, he loves them and talks to me about stuff all the time. Christian Cage, in particular, has been killing it in his eyes. I really respect his thoughts and his ideas and I just love Rick and this is a show, I think, Rick’s really gonna enjoy.”

As previously noted, Khan also revealed that The Briscoes have officially signed full-time deals with Ring of Honor.

Christian Cage recently turned heel and betrayed Jungle Boy on AEW television. On the July 20 edition of AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest Night Three, Jungle Boy returned to confront his former mentor.
