Tony Khan Says Adam Cole vs. Christian Cage Was Considered For Full Gear 2021 AEW

AEW President Tony Khan reveals one of his spotlight matches on Wednesday’s Dynamite was supposed to happen a while ago.

On tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Adam Cole will go one-on-one with Christian Cage. The two stars have been feuding since Cole’s debut for the company.

They even faced off in a Falls Count Anywhere Trios Match at Full Gear 2021 with Cole teaming up with The Young Bucks against Christian, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan revealed that this singles contest has been in the cards for a while.

Khan said:

“I cannot wait to see Adam Cole and Christian Cage lock up, in a match that has been coming for a very long time. Really a match that has been coming for well over six months since Adam Cole first arrived in AEW at All Out at the conclusion of the main event; Kenny Omega vs. Christian Cage. It’s a match I wanted to see since the end of All Out. It’s a match I had at one point honestly considered for Full Gear last year and we ended up putting together the falls count anywhere match.”

Adam Cole vs. Christian Cage is apart of a stacked lineup for this week’s Dynamite with FTR vs. The Young Bucks for the ROH and AAA World Tag Team Titles, the debut of Samoa Joe and The Hardys vs. The Butcher and The Blade in a Tables Match.
