The Forbidden Door is set to be opened up this Sunday night, as AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling are set to bring the crossover event to Chicago, Illinois.
With ticket sales for the show being a massive success, many fans had wondered if the event will become a yearly tradition for the companies.
Tony Khan held his pre-Forbidden Door media scrum today, where he was asked about the possibility for a follow up show.
Khan said that, of course, he is planning a sequel show, and even seemed to tease the idea of making it a two night event akin to WrestleMania and Wrestle Kingdom.
Asked about the possibility of Forbidden Door 2, hopefully with less injuries, TK said: “Yes of course”. He’s been happy with the success with ticket sales. He says a sequel should be something expected. “There’s so many stars in Pro Wrestling right now between both promotions.” He says WWE had a great idea with two nights of WrestleMania and NJPW does it with Wrestle Kingdom. He suggests AEW doing a two night event with as many stars as they have now when everyone is healthy
A late change was made to the Forbidden Door card last night, when it was announced that Tomohiro Ishii had suffered an injury and would be removed from the All-Atlantic Championship four-way match on the show.
Tony Khan says he's already been thinking and discussing the possibility of Forbidden Door 2, hopes to do many FD shows.
He also began talking about WWE having an interesting approach to the 2 night events.
From the sounds of this, it seems like he may be toying w/ this idea.
