Tony Nese: ‘No One In-House Watches 205 Live’

Tony Nese: ‘No One In-House Watches 205 Live’

Following his WWE release, Nese has taken to social media to recall fond memories of a pay-per-view rematch that took place on 205 Live.

On the WrestleMania 35 pre-show in 2019, Tony Nese pinned Buddy Murphy to become the Cruiserweight Champion. On the following episode of 205 Live, Nese defended the gold against Murphy in a WrestleMania rematch.

Nese has now revealed that the rematch was the style of match they wanted to have at The Show of Shows. Stating that nobody within WWE watches 205 Live, Nese tweeted:

“I love that my Mania moment left an impression on some of you. I suggest watching the rematch vs @WWE_Murphy from the 205 Live after. That was the match we really wanted to give you but weren’t allowed. Good thing is, no one in-house even watches 205 so we just did it then (wink emoji)”

It was reported yesterday (June 25) that Nese had been let go by WWE. Murphy was released by the company earlier this month.

Following Murphy’s departure, a report noted many promoters had revealed that they were interested in working with the former WWE star.

After many 205 Live stars were released this week, another report has provided an update on WWE’s plans to elevate the Cruiserweight division.
