Top AEW Star Discusses Embracing Babyface Role AEW

A top AEW star has discussed embracing a babyface role.

At AEW Full Gear 2022, Jamie Hayter defeated Toni Storm to become the new AEW Women’s World Champion thanks to an assist from Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.

In the buildup to the show, Hayter and Baker had teased a breakup, but the duo has since reaffirmed their friendship and are now babyfaces who get big cheers from the AEW fans.

Speaking with the New York Post ahead of AEW Revolution, Baker discussed feeling it was the right time for the change to becoming a babyface again after being the top heel of the women’s division. She said:

“That is more so just listening to the crowd. Jamie’s been getting nuclear reactions for a while now. I think almost my entire title reign I felt like I was getting cheered.”

“It was time. You feel it. You try to fight it as much as you can even though you probably shouldn’t. There comes a point where it’s just time.”

Baker continued to joke about how fans still want her to turn on Hayter, but feeling it made more sense for the two to stay together as they have been friends for a long time. She stated:

“If the roles were reversed, Jamie was always helping me. I had the belt and I was the center of attention. Once the role is reversed, why would I not be there for her right now, too?”

“It’s time for Jamie to have the spotlight and the title and for Jamie to have the big push. I want to be right there in her corner for all of this, too. It’s not fair for me to just ditch her and be on her own right when she gets center stage.”

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. will be in Jamie Hayter’s corner when she defends the AEW Women’s World Championship against Saraya and Ruby Soho this Sunday at AEW Revolution.
