A backstage update has emerged regarding AEW’s plans to introduce a new faction for a top current champion.
Since debuting on AEW TV back in March 2024, TBS Champion Mercedes Mone has largely ran solo.
While the company did book former NWA Women’s World Champion Kamille as Mone’s bodyguard for several months in the latter half of 2024, this allegiance was short-lived and The Brickhouse hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since late November.
In January however, it was reported that plans to integrate an on-screen allegiance between Mone and The Renegade Twins (Robyn Renegade & Charlette Renegade) had been discussed.
Since then there has been no sign of the potential faction, however, now Fightful Select have offered an update on the situation after Mone and Robyn Renegade’s match on last night’s AEW Collision (March 29).
According to their report, which was labelled with a “possible spoiler” warning, an allegiance between Mone and The Renegade Twins has been pitched, with all involved “hoping for it to happen”.
After defeating Robyn in fairly decisive fashion on Collision, Mone praised the 24-year-old, saying she had way more heart than Billie Starkz, who Mone successfully defended her TBS Championship against on the March 19 episode of AEW Dynamite.
When ROH Women’s World Champion, and Starkz’ long-time mentor Athena confronted Mone, Robyn would take a bullet for Mone in the form of an Eclipse from Athena, suggesting that perhaps that the new faction plans could be potentially coming soon.
Robyn and Charlette Renegade last competed together on AEW programming at the Ring of Honor TV taping on December 23, 2023.
While Charlette had missed a prolonged period of in-ring time following this due to what she described as a “small incident”, herself and Robyn did reunite for an indie event in November 2024.
We will provide more updates on Mone’s potential faction plans a they become available.
