Speaking with Sports Illustrated, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) roster member Christian Cage has revealed that he held talks with WWE after returning to the ring at the Royal Rumble event in January.
Following his shock AEW debut at Revolution earlier this month, Christian Cage sat down with Justin Barrasso for an interview where he revealed he had held some “cordial talks” with WWE earlier this year.
“There were some cordial talks, and I can’t really elaborate beyond that,” Reso says. “I’m not sure where their heads were at creatively.”
Christian returned to the ring at the 2021 Royal Rumble match after just shy of seven years of being medically disqualified. However, following the pay-per-view, Christian was not mentioned on WWE TV.
Speaking to Renee Paquette following his debut for AEW at Revolution, Christian Cage revealed that it was actually his unsanctioned match with Randy Orton last year that got him to look into getting cleared.
Christian Cage made his AEW Dynamite debut on last week’s show, and it seems like the former WWE Superstar is going to be immediately placed into a feud with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega.
