One of the only real consistent criticisms that fans and wrestling critics have had of AEW since the launch of Dynamite has been the promotion’s lackluster handling of its women’s division.
There are very rarely more than one women’s match on an episode of Dynamite, and the women within AEW seemingly haven’t really been given the same thought and care to their storylines compared to the men.
During interviews and media appearances, those within AEW who have been asked about the issue say it’s been down to timing constraints and the COVID pandemic, and it seems like Kenny Omega has a solution.
While appearing on Wrestling Observer Radio, Kenny Omega noted that he’d like to see the women within AEW given their own show, as opposed to having to compete for time with the men on Dynamite:
“For us it’s like I just feel that we need more time in front of the camera. That’s all. I would love to get our girls on TV more. I would love our own show.”
This was seemingly trailed by AEW over the Summer, with matches from the Women’s Tag Team Tournament, being broadcast onto YouTube on a Monday as opposed to on Dynamite or Dark.
