Top NJPW Star Explains Why Co-Promotional Event With STARDOM Should Happen ‘Every Once In A While’ NJPW/STARDOM

A top NJPW star has explained why the co-promotional event with STARDOM should happen “every once in a while.”

On November 20, New Japan Pro Wrestling and STARDOM held their first co-promotional show entitled, “Historic X-Over”.

The event was headlined by KAIRI defeating Mayu Iwatani to become the inaugural IWGP Women’s Champion.

Coming out of the event, Kazuchika Okada was interviewed by Tokyo Sports and discussed the Historic X-Over event.

Okada expressed his belief that the show does not need to happen too often and wants to avoid a situation where people are saying the show is exactly the same as the year prior.

The five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion said:

“I think it’s a good thing that we have such a large audience. I wonder what the company will do from now on, and maybe it would be better to get involved from time to time.”

“STARDOM wrestlers might bring back New Japan customers, and vice versa. I think it was a good way to go. ”

In regards to trying to figure what works and what doesn’t with the show, Okada stated:

“I think we should fix what is wrong with it… But I don’t think we should do it too often. The Olympics and the World Cup are not interesting if they are held every year.”

“I don’t think anything will change unless it has that kind of value. If we do [it consistently], people will say, ‘It was just like this last year, wasn’t it?’”

Kazuchika Okada teamed with The Great Muta and Toru Yano to defeat The United Empire’s Great-O-Khan, Aaron Henare and Jeff Cobb at the NJPW x STARDOM Historic X-Over event.

Okada will now move on to face “Switchblade” Jay White for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 in the Tokyo Dome on January 4, 2023.

As previously reported, “The Rainmaker” recently made a voice acting cameo appearance in the Black Adam film.
