It has been decades since WWE participated in a supershow with other promotions. However, New Japan Pro Wrestling star Kazuchika Okada wants to see them involved in 2021.
Okada recently spoke with Sports Illustrated ahead of Wrestle Kingdom 15 where he proposed a major supershow with multiple major companies. Here is the quote:
“Times are tough right now, but I hope what we do will bring joy to everyone all over the world, and give them enough strength and positivity to do their best the next day.
When the world calms down, I would like to give back with other wrestling companies to all wrestling fans in the world who still support us even in this current situation. New Japan, WWE, AEW, CMLL, AAA all together. Sounds pretty cool, don’t you think?”
The closest New Japan Pro Wrestling has come to a supershow of this magnitude was their G1 Supercard show in 2019. The event was co-promoted by Ring of Honor, however, this proposed show would be much bigger.
Kazuchika Okada is currently scheduled to compete at Wrestle Kingdom 15 against Will Ospreay. The two are set to clash on night one on January 4, 2021.
