Top WWE Star Officially Drafted To SmackDown WWE

A top WWE star has been officially drafted to SmackDown effective immediately following an announcement from Nick Aldis.

In a video posted to WWE’s Twitter page SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis confirmed a major match for tonight’s show (February 7), featuring the blue brand’s newest recruit Drew McIntyre.

As seen below, Aldis introduced McIntyre as his latest acquisition before confirming that the Scottish Warrior would face off against Jimmy Uso and LA Knight in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match.

While McIntyre has appeared on SmackDown during the WWE ‘Transfer Window’ the decision to pit McIntyre and LA Knight against one another is particularly interesting in light of what happened during the 2025 Royal Rumble.

According to reports after the Rumble event, timing issues involving LA Knight reportedly led to legitimate frustration backstage.

McIntyre in particular was reportedly “angry”, spotted “yelling” backstage after his elimination from the Rumble was disrupted by the Knight’s timing issues.

Elsewhere in news of stars returning, Alexa Bliss has been confirmed for her first singles match in over two years on tonight’s edition of SmackDown.
