Top WWE Star Says In-Ring Retirement Feels ‘Far Away’

Following John Cena’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, one top WWE star says their own in-ring retirement still feels “far away”.

After a glittering 23-year career in WWE, John Cena called time on his time in the ring with a submission loss to GUNTHER at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 in Washington D.C.

While his arch rival CM Punk has dismissed any notion that his own retirement is in the near future, Seth Rollins also addressed the subject while appearing alongside his wife Becky Lynch on the Ross Tucker Podcast.

Stating that he still has a “lot of years left in the tank”, Rollins said:

“I got a lot of years left in the tank so I don’t know if I’m there just yet.

“I think often about the mortality of my career, because I started when I was 17-18, and now I’m nearly 40 and I’m certainly not going till I’m 60, so I’m closer to the end than the beginning. I think about the mortality and the fact that it’s winding down and maybe there’s some urgency to do some things I haven’t done or contribute in a different way.

“But my last match, my last moment, that feels so far away that I haven’t quite got there yet.”

After Rollins’ comments Becky Lynch was also asked if she’s given any consideration to retirement, to which she said:

“Nah, not yet.”

Rollins is currently out of action after undergoing shoulder surgery, with his last WWE appearance being when he was ousted from The Vision by Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman on the October 13 episode of Raw.
