A top WWE star has reacted to Will Ospreay winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Title at the recent Sakura Genesis event.
Will Ospreay shocked the world today, pinning Kota Ibushi to become IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. A former IWGP Heavyweight titleholder has congratulated the new champion on his historic victory.
AJ Styles took to Twitter to praise Ospreay’s achievement. Claiming that their 2015 RevPro encounter was “like looking into a mirror”, Styles let the Ospreay know just how proud he was of the British star.
Retweeting a photo of him holding the IWGP title, Styles said:
“It’s was like I was looking into the mirror. Congratulations to the New IWGP Champion.”
Ospreay became the second ever holder of the unified IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Not only that, Ospreay became the first-ever British IWGP Heavyweight Champ in NJPW history, regardless of the recent unification.
His partner, Bea Priestley, has also made headlines today, announcing her departure from STARDOM.
AJ Styles teams with Omos to face The New Day for the Raw Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 37. It was previously reported that Styles had repeatedly asked to face Triple H at The Show of Shows.
