Top WWE Star Says ‘It’s About Time’ He Returned To World Championship Picture WWE

WWE is set to crown it’s first new World Heavyweight Champion at the Night of Champions premium live event next weekend.

The finals of the tournament will pit Raw’s Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins against SmackDown’s AJ Styles, with both men reaching the respective finals for their brands on last week’s shows.

Ahead of the show, AJ spoke to Alex McCarthy of Inside The Ropes, where he agreed with Alex’s sentiment that it was good to see him back in the World Championship picture in WWE.

He said:

“I feel the same as you. It’s about time I’m back in the heavyweight title picture. Unfortunately, I’m up against Seth Rollins, who’s probably one of the best. I said it a long ago that he’s gonna be great, and nothing has changed. He’s still one of the best, no doubt about it, so we’ll see what happens.”

AJ’s two matches in the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament were his first matches of 2022, and his first matches back following his broken ankle suffered in December.

AJ spoke about wrestling two matches on his first night back, saying:

“Oh, you’re gonna be in two matches your first time back in the ring with WWE. Oh, that’s great, because that’s where I wanted to be. Who knows where my cardio is at this point? It’s a bit worrisome, but I made it through, and now for my first biggest match in the WWE [since I returned], it’s gonna be against Seth Rollins in Jeddah. So yeah, no pressure.”

AJ is set to appear on the SmackDown debut episode of the Grayson Waller Effect on tonight’s (May 19) episode of SmackDown.

There has been a potential spoiler on AJ’s next feud in WWE, which you can see here.
