Top WWE Star Says They Treat Every Match Like It’s WrestleMania WWE

A top WWE star says they treat every match like it’s WrestleMania.

Sheamus has been an important fixture on the WWE roster since his debut in 2009. He is a former four-time world champion, Mr. Money In The Bank and King of the Ring.

After 13 years on the main roster, 2022 has brought some of the Celtic Warrior’s best work of his career with his battle against Gunther at Clash At The Castle being a standout.

Speaking with CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri on SHAK Wrestling, Sheamus discussed his injury in 2019 that kept him out until January 2020 and how it changed how he approached his career.

The Brawling Brutes leader noted that he realized he had more to prove and he also wanted to deliver great matches every time in the ring.

Sheamus said:

“I knew I had more to prove, and I came back and [thought] what have I got to lose? I thought my career was gonna be over and I got a second chance.”

“Every time I get in that ring, it’s a blessing. It’s an opportunity to show everybody what I can do because that literally could be my last time in the ring.”

“I don’t wanna go out that way, I don’t wanna go out in a way where it’s something lackluster.”

The former four-time WWE world champion noted that his mentality changed upon his return, saying:

“So my mentality is to treat every match as possible, given the time and given the segment and given where it is, but try and make every match you do like a WrestleMania moment or a WrestleMania match.”

“I can’t go out there and half-ass anything. It’s just not in my DNA. I wanna go out there and put on banger after banger after banger. I wanna raise everybody.”

Sheamus will team with Drew McIntyre, Butch, Ridge Holland and Kevin Owens to face The Bloodline’s Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Solo Sikoa and The Usos in the Men’s War Games match at this Saturday’s WWE Survivor Series War Games. For the full lineup for the event, click here.
