With the Elimination Chamber behind us, we are now full speed on the Road to WrestleMania.
One of the top matches rumoured for this year’s event is an Intercontinental Championship clash, with Gunther set to defend the title against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.
On last night’s show, McIntyre made his WrestleMania intentions clear, when he came to ringside to watch the Ring General during Imperium’s six-man tag team match against Ricochet, Braun Strowman and Madcap Moss.
After the match, McIntyre was jumped by the Viking Raiders before Sheamus came to his aid.
After the show on the SmackDown LowDown, McIntyre officially made his intentions clear, challenging Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania.
Sheamus and McIntyre were both eliminated by Gunther in the Royal Rumble match on his path to finishing second, breaking the all-time record for time spent in a traditional Royal Rumble.
Gunther recently became the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of the 21st century.
A contender to Gunther’s title will be determined in a Battle Royal during the upcoming WWE live event in Madison Square Garden.
