Trick Williams WWE Roster Status Update After SmackDown Debut

An update has emerged regarding the internal status of former WWE NXT Champion Trick Williams following his appearance on last night’s SmackDown.

During the special Boxing Day episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Trick Williams became the latest NXT star to tease a call-up to the main roster.

Surprising Nick Aldis by making himself at home in the SmackDown General Manager’s office, Williams implored Aldis to match Monday Night Raw’s offer to sign him to the blue brand from NXT.

Despite this suggesting that Williams is still a member of the NXT roster for now, that is reportedly not the case after all.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Trick is “officially” a main roster WWE star.

Melter writes:

Trick Williams is now officially a main roster wrestler, although they are doing the storyline where both brands are trying to sign him.

It is not yet confirmed which brand Trick will be joining, however, as Meltzer notes in his report, his real-life fiancée Lash Legend did recently become a member of SmackDown, so it appears likelier that he will also follow suit and join the blue brand.

Earlier this week on Raw it was stated by WWE’s Michael Cole that Je’Von Evans was soon to become a free agent in the company, with “The Young OG” set for a similar bidding war between Raw and SmackDown for his services.

Williams’ former NXT and TNA rival Joe Hendry also appeared on last night’s SmackDown, defeating The Miz in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight.

Trick Williams is reportedly now officially considered a main roster WWE star despite not yet signing with either Raw or SmackDown on TV.
