Trick Williams has addressed his WrestleMania 42 debut, which saw him become WWE United States Champion, defeating Sami Zayn.

Night 2 of WrestleMania 42 marked the first main roster championship that Trick Williams has held since his call-up from NXT earlier this year.

With the match being Williams’ first WrestleMania moment, the new champion addressed that experience in an interview with 8 News Now Las Vegas, saying:

“Man, it’s just an unreal feeling when you come out and see all those fans, they said it was 55,000, it felt like 85,000 because it was packed.

“You could see people all the way into the abyss, the nebula, just fans, and everybody was chanting “Whoop that Trick”.

“In the middle of all those people, I see the Gingerbread Man, he’s not happy, he has a frown on his face. Then he kicked me in my nose, you know I don’t like that. Everything came back to reality after that.”

The Gingerbread Man was also the name of a diss track that Williams and Lil Yachty would release, aimed firmly at Sami Zayn.

The character would even make an appearance on the WWE SmackDown before WrestleMania 42, with Zayn delivering a Helluva Kick that spun the Gingerbread Man’s head.

Four Months To Success

Called up to the main roster in January of this year, Trick Williams has secured his first championship since joining SmackDown.

From his earliest appearances on the blue brand show, Williams was inserted into the championship picture, progressing in the United WWE Champion Number One Contender’s tournament, only to fall short to Zayn in the four-way match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 24. Williams kept good company in that match, alongside Zayn, with Damian Priest and Randy Orton also featuring.

He would once again find himself pursuing gold at Elimination Chamber, with Williams stepping into the unforgiving environment alongside Je’Von Evans, Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, Logan Paul and a victorious Randy Orton, who was unsuccessful in his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42.

A former NXT Champion and North American Champion, Williams has demonstrated the skill, charisma and ability to stand among the veteran stars of WWE without looking out of place, carrying himself as the talent that he clearly is.

In a post-WrestleMania 42 environment, more call-ups from NXT are likely, as are new challengers for Williams and his newly won United States Championship.
