Now an update to an earlier story we brought you regarding Triple H making a possible change to another name.
The current Intercontinental Champion wrestled as ‘WALTER’ until January, when the star declared that his new ring name would be ‘Gunther’.
WWE announced that Gunther’s Imperium faction will battle the Brawling Brutes in a Donnybrook match at Extreme Rules on October 8.
Eagle eyed fans noticed that in the WWE.com preview for the bout, Gunther’s name is now capitalised.
In an update from Fightful Select noting the match order for this week’s SmackDown, it was noted that the name is now being internally stylized as GUNTHER.
GUNTHER has recently spoken about the change from WALTER to GUNTHER and shared he thought in general, progress is positive and he didn’t mind the switch incredibly.
Also noting that he has done a lot of work to become an updated version of himself, he wouldn’t want to take it back now.
For their part, the other two members of Imperium who also received name changes as well with Marcel Barthel becoming Ludvig Kaiser and Fabian Aichner becoming Giovanni Vinci so at least GUNTHER wasn’t alone.
Imperium will take on the Brawling Brutes in a Donnybrook match at WWE’s next premium live event, Extreme Rules on October 8.
