Triple H Comments On ‘Wonderful’ New Day 10-Year Anniversary Segment On WWE Raw

Triple H has commented on The New Day’s 10-year anniversary segment on WWE Raw whilst attending the media event at Netflix HQ on December 3.

On Monday’s Raw the long built up angle between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston saw a surprising pay-off that few fans saw coming.

Rather than turn on one another as had been teased, both Woods and Kingston instead turned heel on a returning Big E, who was attempting to mend the two’s fractured relationship.

The segment garnered a great deal of buzz from fans and was reacted to from talent in both WWE and AEW.

Whilst at the WWE media event at Netflix HQ in California on December 3, Triple H shared his own reaction to how the story paid off.

In comments obtained by Sports Illustrated, Triple H said:

“Everybody online and our fans and people we talk to around the world are trying to predict… It’s no different than going to a movie. Like, that guy did it. I know he did it. I know that guy did it. And then it blows your mind when it wasn’t him, it was somebody else, right?

“This was one that I didn’t see anybody, anywhere calling the direction it was going to go in. And that was sort of the plan for a very long period of time. When you can get there, it’s wonderful.”

“I was so happy for those guys.”

Triple H then recalled a fan’s aghast reaction to the segment that was captured by WWE camera’s, saying:

“We couldn’t have comically asked for a better shot of somebody selling that storyline for us.”

Triple H then discussed the satisfaction in paying off stories in such a way following so much build up, saying there’s “no greater feeling”:

“It’s those moments. It’s why we do what we do. It’s that moment when you’re in the ring and Rock says it all the time. It’s that electricity, that connection with the people. There’s no greater feeling than that.

“When we can get that in front of 10,000, 70,000, it doesn’t matter what it is, we’ll get it around the globe on Netflix. Those moments are why we do what we do and invest and pay that off to fans who have been watching week in, week out.”
