WWE head of creative Paul Levesque (Triple H) has responded to criticism of Roman Reigns beating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.
The finish of the match saw Solo Sikoa nail Rhodes with a Samoan Spike with the referee distracted by Paul Heyman, which directly led to Reigns being able to spear Rhodes and pin him.
Obviously the majority of fans were both hoping for and expecting a Rhodes win, so there was a lot of negativity on social media afterwards.
Levesque responded to people’s concerns during the post-Mania press conference, saying:
“What I will say about that is, it’s always interesting to me when people say, ‘How could that happen?’ or, ‘How could they do that in that moment?’.
“And it’s almost perfectly spelled out in this story. ‘I need to finish the story’. In WWE, the story never finishes.
“Tomorrow night on Raw at sold out Crypto Arena, the story continues. The story takes another chapter. We just got to the end of a chapter. But the story continues, and that’s where this gets interesting to me.
“So, I think that is what is the most amazing thing about our business – the story never ends.”
