Triple H held a conference call today to promote the upcoming NXT TakeOver: WarGames II show coming up on Saturday in which he dropped several interesting hints about the future.
Amongst the most notable was his comments about the future of NXT on an international stage. Responding to PW Insider’s Mike Johnson about what sort of international push was ahead of NXT, Hunter noted the following:
- They are making progress on it every day
- The German tryout went well with many “strong prospects” attending the camp
- He wants to establish a worldwide pipeline so that talent “does not have to work indies” which he describes as “good for the talent and good for WWE“.
- There are “big announcements” planned for early 2019 regarding the brand’s international expansion
While that may well be good news for WWE and some of the talent who benefit from it, for the indy groups that are not permitted to work alongside WWE it means yet more talent will be unavailable to them.
Elsewhere on the call, Triple H also discussed the possibility of expanding the number of TakeOvers and their length, saying that he does not believe in giving more just for the sake of it and that he thinks they are in a “sweet spot” at the moment.
He said similar about NXT UK, saying that when they get to the point where there is a demand for live events they will run then, rather than just doing them for the sake of it.
