During the kickoff show before NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day last night, former IMPACT World Champion Eli Drake returned to the black and gold brand. This came just after it was reported that Eli Drake has rejoined WWE.
While speaking with the media after the TakeOver show last night, Triple H was full of praise for Eli Drake, who is now going by LA Knight, and revealed that he has been a fan since he first joined WWE in 2013:
“I do not think that there’s a ceiling on anybody when they walk in the door. I re-evaluate or evaluate everybody as they’re walking in the door. My hope is that all of them have the potential at one point in time to garner whatever they need to become as big of a performer as they can be here. I have been a fan of LA Knight’s since he was here the first time. There’s a lot of reasons, on his side and our side, as to why that didn’t work out that time.”
For those that don’t know, Eli Drake joined WWE in 2013 and performed as part of the NXT as Slate Randall. He then left WWE the following year after, with his released believed to be down to his issues with former head trainer Bill Demott.
Eli Drake will be hoping that his second stint with WWE is more successful, with the NXT brand much more of a complete package that it was when he was first with the company in 2013-14.
Eli Drake is not the only WWE signing, as it has been reported that Taya Valkyrie, Blake Christian and more have joined the company lately. Reports have suggested that WWE has signed around 24 wrestlers during its latest “signing spree”.
