Triple H has now commented on Rey Mysterio winning the WWE US Championship on this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
During the August 11 show, now-former champion Austin Theory attacked Santos Escobar, which led to Rey Mysterio taking Escobar’s place in that night’s US Title bout.
Mysterio was ultimately victorious, pinning Theory to win his third US Championship.
Chief Content Officer Triple H has now taken to Twitter to share a photo of himself and Rey Mysterio.
Congratulating the new champion, Triple H wrote:
An all-time great who proves it every time he steps in the ring.
Congratulations to the incomparable WWE Hall of Famer @reymysterio. #USTitle #SmackDown

Santos Escobar originally earned his title shot by winning the US Title Invitational tournament.
Escobar won the tournament finals and was awarded the win after Rey Mysterio was unable to compete.
This marks Rey Mysterio’s first title win since his WWE Hall of Fame induction in April.
Mysterio became the second star to win the US Title as a Hall of Famer, after Bret Hart.
