There’s an interesting side-note regarding the latest injury update on Robert Roode and what Paul Levesque (Triple H) may be planning for his return.
As we covered yesterday, PWInsider reported that WWE is hoping Roode will be able to make a return soon having not wrestled since late June, and not wrestling on TV since early April.
PWInsider’s report pointed out that WWE has talked about Roode making his return to SmackDown, despite being on the Raw roster before his absence.
If that does happen, it seems likely that we’ve seen the end of Roode’s Dirty Dawgs tag team with Dolph Ziggler, who is still on Raw as of now.
If we go back in time a few years, Levesque had pushed Roode as NXT Champion, so there’s every chance we may be looking at Roode being used in a more prominent singles position than he had been under Vince McMahon when he makes his comeback.
Roode has been a US Champion and a three-time Tag Team Champion (once with Chad Gable and twice with Ziggler), but many believe he’s capable and worthy of going beyond that level.
Hopefully it also means we get to hear his ‘Glorious’ entrance music again.
