Triple H Was ‘Very Unhappy’ With Popular Star’s WWE Release WWE

Triple H’s reaction to William Regal’s WWE release earlier this year has been revealed, ahead of Regal’s return to the company.

Regal was one of a number of NXT names let go in January during the first round of WWE Performance Center cuts of the year.

These releases were made under the old WWE regime, when Vince McMahon was still the company chairman and CEO.

Triple H recently fuelled rumors that William Regal will return to the company under his regime by paying homage to the wrestling veteran ahead of the November 19 Survivor Series WarGames event.

Recent reports have now indicated that, after being written off AEW TV, Regal is finalising his new deal with WWE.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), a WWE source noted that it doesn’t surprise them that Regal is likely returning to WWE as Triple H was ‘very unhappy’ when Regal was let go earlier this year.

The report also noted that prior to Regal’s release, several NXT sources, and Triple H himself, had expressed to Fightful that Regal was considered a ‘lifer’ for the NXT brand specifically.

Triple H now oversees WWE creative as the company’s Chief Content Officer. His wife Stephanie McMahon serves as WWE Chairwoman and co-CEO, alongside WWE President and co-CEO Nick Khan.

Regal was written off of AEW TV on the November 30 edition of Dynamite, with MJF attacking him.
