Triple H Pitched For Former Champion To Be A WWE LFG Coach WWE

Triple H wanted a former WWE Women’s Champion for WWE LFG, with the former champion sharing her thoughts on the show.

WWE LFG sees a number of “Future Greats” trained by “Legends”, competing a men’s and women’s tournament to secure an NXT contract.

The series is currently in its second run, with all those competing already signed to WWE deals and performing on untelevised NXT shows and Evolve.

Season one of WWE LFG saw Mickie James take up coaching duties alongside Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley and The Undertaker completing the mentor line-up.

Speaking to So Cal Val for WrestlingNewsCo, Mickie James opened up about her thoughts on her role and revealed Triple H asked for her to be part of the coaching team, saying:

“I had so much fun doing that show… Filming that show was a lot. You’re trying to juggle schedules. I didn’t know how I was going to feel training people or whether I was going to fit in.

“You know, when I got asked, because Hunter had suggested me and really wanted me to do the show. The coaches are Bubba, Taker and, obviously Booker T, all Hall of Famers.

“They’ve been around the business, Booker has his own school, Booker has his own school. Taker pretty much schooled the locker room for decades. I was like ‘where do I fit in here?’

“Working with the talent down there and the future superstars, they were amazing. And, you see how hard (they work). It also put me back to OVW days, of that grind, of being in the system, of working every day and trying to do extra just to be seen, just to be validated, just to… get ahead and figure out what is going to be that thing to set me apart and to make me different.

“So, I loved it. I loved doing it. I’ve kind of followed… and, obviously the kids who were in my group, I’ve followed them. I had such a great team. Even like now, I feel like I had so much time… that I’m now invested in their forever journey.”

James would conclude that she enjoyed mentoring people more than she anticipated, saying that her weakness was getting too invested in how they were doing.

The TNA Wrestling star didn’t return for season 2 of WWE LFG in June of this year, being replaced by another WWE Hall of Famer in the form of Michelle McCool.

Although not a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, Mickie James is set to be inducted into the TNA Wrestling equivalent.
