WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has addressed a championship changing hands on the August 29 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
The main event of Friday’s show saw Solo Sikoa defend his US Championship against Sami Zayn.
The challenger was ultimately victorious, with Zayn pinning Sikoa after 12 minutes of action to win the US Title for the first time in his career.
Triple H has now taken to Twitter to share a photo and video backstage with the new champion.
The CCO captioned his post:
“An incredibly gutsy performance by one of the best. For the first time, Sami Zayn is your United States Champion.”
Now the US Champion, Sami Zayn is just a world title win away from completing the WWE Grand Slam, having previously held the Intercontinental and WWE Tag Team championships.
Another star who’s one title win away from becoming a Grand Slam winner is John Cena, who has never won the Intercontinental Championship.
Current Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio has addressed the possibility of defending his gold against John Cena ahead of Cena retiring in November, which you can read more about right here.
