Dave Meltzer has dug deep into his big bag of stars this week, and has pulled out two five star ratings for last weekend’s AEW Full Gear PPV in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Both the main event of Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page, and the six-man tag match which saw Adam Cole & The Young Bucks face Jurassic Express & Christian Cage earned the coveted rating, with the former earning 5.5 stars, and the latter a round 5 stars.
AEW now has six 5 star or above matches in 2021, with the highest rated of those being the steel cage match between The Young Bucks and the Lucha Bros at All Out.
Meltzer had high praise for the in-ring action in both matches, but also commended Page & Omega’s storytelling throughout the match, which saw Kenny’s almost one year reign come to an end.
The six-man tag match was loaded with spectacular spots as you would expect, and it is the second PPV in a row for which the Young Bucks have earned a 5+ star rating.
