Two AEW Stars ‘Almost Got Physical’ Months Ago

AEW star Santana has been out of action due to an injury that he suffered back at the Blood and Guts match in June, which saw he, Ortiz, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli defeat the Jericho Appreciation Society.

For a while, there were rumours of a potential rift between tag team partners Santana and Ortiz, which were later confirmed by former manager Konnan.

Konnan recently hosted a special Q&A edition of his Keepin’ It 100 podcast, where he was asked about Santana and Ortiz’s issues. Konnan again confirmed that the two have been drifting apart.

Konnan also spoke about potential backstage heat between Eddie Kingston and Santana, revealing that things almost got physical between the two over the situation.

Konnan spoke about the incident:

“It breaks my heart because I spent a lot of time with them and I’ve said before that they’re like my sons. I heard it almost got physical with Santana and Kingston over this. It’s not a good look, bro. I really hate seeing that these two guys who could have gone to WWE and really f**king blown up, that they separated.

“I can see Santana when his contract is up, leaving. Ortiz is very chill and laid back. Santana is more of a hot head. Ortiz’s was like, ‘Hey, they ain’t doing s**t with us’, and Santana’s like, ‘They ain’t doing s**t with us’, and he’s right. Ortiz is more like ‘We’re getting paid and are taken care of’, and he was comfortable in his role and Santana wants more.”

These issues are likely to have happened many months ago, as Santana has been out of commission with an injury.

Eddie Kingston was recently suspended for two weeks due to an altercation he had backstage with Sammy Guevara, which led to their planned AEW All Out match being cancelled.
