NXT has recently gone through it’s second rebranding in as many years, as the new ‘white and gold’ era of the show has been in play for two weeks now.
The change comes after a change in WWE regime, with Vince McMahon retiring from the company back in July, and Triple H taking over as the head of creative on the WWE main roster, with Shawn Michaels spearheading the developmental brand.
The change in regime has led to a change once again in the philosophy of the show, opting now for a mix of independent stars and college athletes rather than leaning heavily towards college athletes like the 2.0 era of NXT did.
The change has already seen many old NXT stars return to the company, though they took place on the main roster rather than returning to the developmental show. However, it seems more released NXT names may be on their way back to NXT.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required) former NXT Tag Team Champion Bobby Fish and former NXT star Anthony Greene (August Grey) were both backstage at recent NXT live events.
Fish recently arrived in IMPACT Wrestling following his AEW departure back in August, and has served as a guest coach at the WWE Performance Center. Greene has also worked a handful of matches in AEW since his WWE departure, including one against Fish himself.
Those in WWE that spoke to Fightful said that both men were still on very good terms with WWE.
