Sonjay Dutt and Abyss, two of the most influential people behind the scenes in Impact Wrestling, have departed the promotion for agent positions with WWE.
Dutt was one of the leading members of the creative team and a go-to point person for the talent as well as a key figure when it came to other promotions working alongside Impact.
Abyss has been working as an agent and an occasional wrestler for the promotion recently. Has had been with the group since day one, always resisting the urge to sign for WWE when offers came in previously.
The news was revealed by Impact president Ed Nordholm, who sent out an email to the talent informing them that Dutt and Abyss were leaving the promotion for a position in WWE.
The email described the departure as “amicable”, noting that Impact did not want to deny them the “great opportunities” they had been offered.
Tommy Dreamer and Konnan are expected to be added to the Impact creative team in their place.
Abyss and Sonjay Dutt are the latest in a long line of WWE signings from Impact over the past few years, with several wrestlers and behind the scenes staffers having joined the promotion in various capacities.
